I think that summer weather has finally arrived in Pittsburgh! The pool will be open and WARM! The Barracudas will be swimming in tropical waters thanks to the new heater.

Practice will start on June 4th.  Times are the same, 10-1130am.  New swimmers will start with a 30 minute session from 10-1030 until they are conditioned enough to join the larger lanes. This is a great way for young and new swimmers to gain confidence in the water before joining more seasoned swimmers.

I am looking for a few helping hands to organize a donut party on the June 4th.  We will be having coffee vendor truck at a few morning practices as well!  

We are welcoming long time guard and pool manager Maddie Wells to our staff this summer.  Maddie will be serving as our Swim Team Manager.  She will be on deck and available for the coaches and parents.  Maddie will be overseeing practice management and safety ensuring that our swimmers have the best Summer Swim Season possible.  

The first two weeks of the season always come with questions, concerns and adjustments.  Many of you know that I have had a Family Vacation planned for over a year and I will me absent from June 1-June 13.  We will be exploring the great National Parks in South Dakota and Wyoming!  This also means that I will have little to no contact for two weeks.  I encourage you to email me or call me ASAP if you have questions or any concerns that I can assist with. If you know any NEW families that are considering the team please let them know they can contact me and discuss any questions they may have.  Maddie has been part of Valley Brook for many years and she knows how the team works.  I am confident that she will be able to answer questions, calm nerves of your swimmers and YES parents too! Please know that Maddie will be a good fit in my shoes the first 2 weeks. She will also be an AMAZING addition to the staff during the season.

With this trip I am also asking for ALL HANDS ON DECK for our first meet!  I arrive back into Pittsburgh the night before on June 13, our first meet is June 14th.  Please make sure that you declare your swimmers availability EARLY and sign up for jobs!  We swim against Fox Chapel Racquet Club, I really want to be on our A GAME!!!  We are desperately looking for  a concession stand LEAD!  This is our teams BIGGEST money maker.  Without a concession stand we will have very limited funds for awards, and the year end party.  There is always plenty of help at the meets.  Our concession Lead handles most of the prep! Ordering the food and asking for donations.  I will be helping the new lead as much as possible this first season! Please let me know if you or a few of you want to work together on this very important role!

Spirit Wear and Barracuda T-shirts will be available.  I have a surprise for our T-shirts this year!  Orders for T-shirts must be in by June 4 if you want personalization on the back.  We will place one last order no later than June 15 for late registrations.
